DSI officially launches ‘Salvio,’ special range of shoes for diabetes patients

‘Salvio,’ a specially-made range of shoes for diabetes patients shoes from DSI, has come to the aid of diabetes patients in Sri Lanka, enabling them to walk with comfort and the assurance that daily walking activities would not cause any harm to their sensitive feet. DSI has launched the Salvio range with a focus on the organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility to the Sri Lankan consumers who have been and continue to be the biggest strength behind the brand DSI. With a peerless expertise in footwear manufacturing and being the market leader in footwear category since 1998, DSI Group has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Sri Lanka Medical Association, Nirogi Lanka Project for manufacturing low-cost footwear for diabetes patients in Sri Lanka, catering to their specific requirements. At the initial stage, the target group of the Salvio range is diabetes patients without any ulcers on their feet. The Salvio range of sandals and shoes are tailor-made with special features and specifications to provide extra comfort and protection for the feet of diabetes patients compared to the ordinary shoes. The official launch and a special programme to raise awareness among the community was carried out at the Diabetes Day exhibition and educational programme which was held at Mihilaka Madura – Eco Auditorium, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall on 15 November, to mark International Diabetes Day 2014. A parallel event was also carried out at Samanala Grounds, Galle with the same purpose. Salvio products are available at DSI outlets located in cities such as Anuradhapura, Awissawella, Borella,    Dehiwala, Dambulla, Embilipitiya, Galle, Gampaha, Jaffna, Kandy, Kurunegala, Maradana, Matara, Narahenpita, Negombo, Nugegoda, Nuwara Eliya, Colombo (Pettah),  Ragama and Ratnapura.
