Dulux forecast colour trends at HSBC Colombo fashion week 2012

Elegance, glamour and cutting-edge style were the buzz words at HSBC Colombo fashion week that was held at the Hilton Colombo on 24, 25 and 26 February. Adding to the excitement and sophistication of the evening was Dulux, who was present as the Official Colour Forecaster for HSBC Colombo fashion week 2012.

In the midst of local and international design talent, Dulux brought colour and style with their latest colour palettes for the year 2012. As the Official Colour Forecaster, Dulux gave the invitees to fashion week information on the evolution of colours; basically how each colour has evolved from 2006 to 2012. An AV which gave an in-depth view of how the colour palettes for 2012 were chosen was shown at the venue.  

The selection of these colour palettes occurs each year at the Aesthetic Center of Akzo Nobel in the United Kingdom. The Aesthetic Centre brings together creative experts from the fields of design, architecture and fashion, who draw inspiration from fine arts to technology to identify the colour palettes for the year. Participants were also able to receive Dulux Ambiance idea cards which highlighted the Ambiance themes and the colours which effectively bring out one’s innate personal style.

Another popular highlight of fashion week was the Dulux Ambiance fashion portrait.  Dressed in their best, participants were able to get their photographs taken with Dulux fashion portrait. The photographs were against a trendy backdrop which stylishly highlighted the forecasted colour for the year which is a blushy, lively, juicy red.

On 25 February, when all elements of HSBC Colombo fashion week represented ethical fashion, Dulux promoted a theme known as ‘one small seed’ which has a range of colours which focus on one’s bond with nature. Once the photographs were taken invitees were able to walk away with a memento of the event, which was their fashion portrait, beautifully placed in a fashionable frame.

Glamour and style were plentiful at HSBC Colombo fashion week and with the participation of Dulux, the stylish of Colombo were able to get insight, not only into the latest styles and trends but also into making their living spaces as fashionable as them.
