The Sri Lanka Images Postcard Desk Calendar 2013 produced by Vijitha Yapa Publications is now available and has been released early to enable people to send it overseas to reach their friends and relations well before Christmas and the New Year.

The attractively produced calendar has 12 postcards, one for each month. The attraction in this product is that at the end of each month, the postcards can be detached and sent out individually with a greeting. Unlike a normal calendar, with the postcard concept, the cards are reusable.

The product has 12 beautiful pictures depicting various aspects of Sri Lankan life. The cover picture features two baby elephants seen frolicking in the river at Pinnawela.  The calendar also contains a picture of the only female drummer depicted in any Sri Lankan ancient mural which can be seen at the Mulkirigala Temple built in the 2nd century BC.

Some of the other memorable pictures are those of Ruvanveliseya from a new angle and four pictures of elephants performing various tasks. The calendar also has a picture of the 12 ton statue of the giant jade Buddha which was displayed at the BMICH two months ago. The calendar comes in an attractive envelope in which the recipient’s name and address can be written and posted.

Vijitha and Lalana Yapa have taken the beautiful photographs showing their versatility with the camera and capturing scenes which are unusual but of interest to most Sri Lankans.
