Elephant House Cream Soda was recognised as Sri Lanka’s favourite beverage, bagging the coveted ‘FMCG Beverage Brand of the Year’ award for the eighth consecutive year at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) – Neilsen People’s Awards 2014. The brand was also the joint winner of the ‘Youth Beverage Brand of the Year’ award at the event for the second consecutive time. “Allowing the public to vote for their preferred brands, the SLIM-Neilsen People’s Awards are a true measure of consumer sentiments,” said Ceylon Cold Stores Head of Beverages and Vice President John Keells Holdings Daminda Gamlath. “We would like to thank Elephant House Cream Soda fans island-wide for their continued love and support. This alone has led us to have the honour of being adjudged the ‘FMCG Beverage Brand of the Year’ since the inception of People’s Awards. It also gives Elephant House Cream Soda immense pleasure to receive the ‘Youth Beverage Brand of the Year’ award for the second year in a row,” he added. The two awards prove beyond doubt the popularity and mass appeal of Elephant House Cream Soda. Countless Sri Lankans treat themselves to its wonderfully smooth and refreshing taste and deliciously light and fun flavour every day. In addition to Elephant House Cream Soda, Elephant House produces a variety of soft drinks, including EGB, Orange Barley, Lemonade, Necto, Bitter Lemon, Orange Crush, Apple Soda, Soda and KIK Cola all local favourites in their categories. Currently in its eighth year, The SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards is held annually to recognise brands and personalities that have left a lasting impression on the people of the nation. The awards are based on a five month long sample survey of 5,050 individuals, equally split between males and females, and between the ages of 16-65 years living in both urban and rural areas. The Nielsen Company conducts the survey through face to face interviews all island, making this the only award in the country which allows the people to choose their favourite brands.
