Fair & Lovely, one of Unilever Sri Lanka’s leading face care brands together with renowned beautician and personal care trainer, Nayana Karunarathne brought together over 130 beauticians from Central Province to the inaugural workshop conducted by Fair & Lovely ‘Face Expert’ program. The workshop in Kandy was the third such event conducted under the Face Expert program which aims to address the knowledge and skill gap of salon owners who have mostly taken on beauty culture as a means of self employment. The first workshops have been already held in Colombo and Gampaha districts engaging more than 250 salon professionals. “As a responsible face care brand which has been close to the Sri Lankan consumer for over 23 years Fair & Lovely is taking the initiative to meet the demand for knowledge and expertise in the beauty culture industry today. We believe that the Fair & Lovely Face Expert program can both empower hundreds of salon professionals and also uplift the quality of their service to their customers,” Imeshika Kariyawasam, Senior Brand Manager of Fair & Lovely said. The ‘Fair & Lovely Face Expert’ consists of a series of workshops focused on skin care. Participants were taken through a detailed lesson on skin structure and functionality, different types of skin and on skin care remedies. Participants also got the opportunity to practically test out their knowledge on skin care under the supervision on Nayana Karunaratne. Nayana Karunaratne, the Brand Ambassador for Fair & Lovely stressed the importance of beauticians being adequately qualified before taking on skin care treatments on clients. “Only trained and registered practitioners are allowed to handle hair colouring and skin care treatment in most other countries. Sri Lanka too should aspire to uplift the standards of our salon industry to such high levels. Right knowledge and practice plays a very important role in a journey like that. Hence as a professional from the beauty industry I am thankful to Fair & Lovely for initiating such program which addresses the knowledge gaps in our industry,” she said. Fair &Lovely Face Expert Program aims to engage five hundred salon professionals from Western, Central and Southern Provinces for a one year period with a series of workshops and steps that target to improve the standards and facilities of salons enrolled.
