The sixth edition of the French Spring Festival will be held between 14 June and 14 July. It is being organised by the French Embassy and the Alliance Française de Kotte in Colombo.

For this very special edition, the French Embassy and the Alliance Française intend to bring the best of French modern culture to an extended audience in Colombo and Kandy. The public will welcome the beats of well-known French DJ Sven Løve on 17 June and the music of French singer and DJ Charles-Baptiste on 28 June, during free events at Sugar 41 in Colombo.

The movie Eden, about the history of the techno movement in Paris, will be screened, with a special appearance by DJ Sven Løve at the Alliance Française de Kotte on 18 June. Street artist Alber will be in Kandy on 17 June and in Colombo on 19 and 20 June for unique graffiti performances.

The writer Paul Fournel will present his work on the relationship between technology and literature on 23 and 24 June. The public will also experience an interactive exhibition on digital creation presented by Transmedia Immersive University and the French Institute between 1 and 10 July. The jazz band Gala Swing Quartet will have several concerts in Colombo and in other cities in Sri Lanka.

The festival will also include fashion and tourism, two major assets of France’s culture. The Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (LIFT, Colombo) will present a fashion show with several young international creators, on 9 July.

On 11 July a presentation on tourism will promote both the beauty of Sri Lanka and France in partnership with the French guide Le Petit Futé, at the Alliance Française.

Most of the events and performances will be free. Find out more on the Facebook page ‘French Spring Festival’ or visit the website lk.ambafrance.org or www.alliancefrancaise.lk.
