A hair stylist par excellence with special expertise in cuts and colour, Suppasan is now consulting at Ramani Fernando Salons, offering fun, flattering and fabulous options to those who constantly want to reinvent their look while portraying on-trend perfection.
Given that Bangkok is a highly-evolved fashion hair colour market that closely follows global trends, Suppasan brings with him the latest in colour techniques, taking the offering at the high-end Ramani Fernando Salons to the next level.
He’s already been here for around six months and says it’s an exciting time to be in Colombo. “I have been involved with various high profile shows through Ramani’s, like Colombo Fashion Week; Colombo needs more of these! I want to use my expertise to help Ramani’s customers to keep abreast of the latest hair styles and trends and also help them find the look that suits them best,” he said, in an interview with the Daily FT.
With over 20 years of experience to his credit and best known for his attention to detail and knowledge of global trends, Suppasan has been a trainer and stylist to Thai celebrities and the expat community.
Having operated his own salon in the Bangkok CBD for the last five years prior to moving to Colombo, Suppasan excels in attention to detail in the hair cut which is essential in getting that perfect, tailored look. He is exceptionally skilled and has won accolades at some of the world’s most prestigious hair and beauty competitions.
Hair trend predictions for 2016
Suppasan’s hair trend predictions for 2016 are shorter, layered cuts, A-line bobs (shorter at the back) and ‘lobs’ (long bob), which he asserts will be popular, along with emphasis on more daring ‘dip-dye’ colours like silver, pastel pinks and blues.
Available for consultations by prior appointment at the Borella Total Care salon as well as World Trade Center salon, Suppasan offers expert advice on all aspects of hair design including cuts, styling, colour and highlights as well as perms, relaxing and re-bonding.
He specialises in creating fresh and exciting new looks, and encourages his clients to embrace bold new hair styles and experiment with colour in order to truly express themselves and their individual personalities.
Time to experiment!
For Sri Lanka’s fashion-conscious women, he recommends that they be a little more daring with their look. “Experiment more with shorter styles and colour – try baby steps if you are not sure,” he advises.
He adds: “Ask your stylist to teach you how to maintain and style the salon look every day; there is no point in getting a super new look at the salon if you are unable to keep it looking that way until your next salon visit.”
Suppasan also points out that it is important to “learn how to care for your hair with regular conditioning and in-home hair treatment, especially if you constantly blow dry, use styling products or colour/perm/relax your hair”.
Highly-awarded stylist
Commenting on Suppasan joining her chain of salons, renowned beautician Ramani Fernando stated: “We are delighted to have Suppasan join Ramani Fernando Salons. His distinct set of skills and his extensive experience in the hair and beauty industry will truly make him a valuable asset to our team. Suppasan is a highly-awarded stylist with a wealth of international exposure, and I believe that he will be able to help our clients in Sri Lanka, find bold and expressive looks that will enable them to make a strong fashion statement.”
It’s no surprise that he’s been warmly welcomed at Ramani Fernando Salons and fit in so well there, for his experience in the industry and line-up of awards is truly impressive.
Among the awards are the Wella Thailand Gold award for colour technique in 2013 and the Silver award at the Wella global challenge in Frankfurt Germany in 2014, where he outperformed professionals from 56 countries and emerged as the world runner-up of the competition.
He also won the L’Oreal Matrix Thailand award for hair technique excellence in 2011 and has been recognised at the Queens Cup and the Hair World Festival in Thailand. His creative work has been featured in leading publications such as Hair, HairWorld and Seventeen Magazine.
A graduate of the Prasertsak Academy, one of the foremost hair and beauty academies in Asia, after his graduation Suppasan worked as an instructor at the academy and thereafter as a senior stylist at Moga International Tokyo’s branch in Thailand. Moga is a premium salon chain which caters to the crème de la créme of Thai society, celebrities and expatriates.
Excited to be here
Suppasan draws on this wealth of expertise in his position as a trainer and stylist at Ramani Fernando Salons, sharing his unique expertise with its clientele and team.
Warm, friendly and bursting with positive energy, he says he’s very excited to be working at Ramani Fernando Salons. “We follow each other and give and take in terms of what we bring to the table. The people at the salon are really nice and I love it here.”
That he’s fit in really well is evident, as he moves among the other staffers at the Total Care salon in Borella, laughing and chatting all the while. “I might stay in Sri Lanka forever!” he adds, with a wide smile.
That’s good news indeed for Sri Lanka’s fashion-conscious men and women, who can rest assured their hair and look is in expert hands!
