“Have a Canine Christmas and give a dog a home this year” says Embark

In the season of giving, Embark intends to give homes to stray pups and reward the dog lovers that support the cause on 22 December 2013 with ‘Niko’s Christmas Party’ that will be held alongside this month’s adoption day. Since its inception in 2007, the vision of Odel’s Embark initiative has been resolute: to provide a better life for the street dogs of Sri Lanka and to give them the love, respect and homes they deserve. It is not uncommon for Odel shoppers to come home with a “little something extra” if they visit Odel’s flagship store in Alexandra Place on the adoption days that Embark holds in the car park once a month. The stray puppies that Embark vaccinates and fosters until they can find them a good home can melt even the toughest hearts on these days. But this month, in the real month of giving, Embark says it wants to give homes to dogs as well as give back to the dog lovers that have supported its cause. On 22 December Embark will be inviting shoppers and dog lovers to their ‘Christmas with Niko’ celebrations together with this month’s adoption day. Spending Christmas with Niko will give shoppers and dog lovers an opportunity to participate in an array of Christmas activities, and receive inspired pooch presents. Visitors to the Alexandra Place car park on 22 December, can get creative with face painting and can also have a go at painting little Nikos made out of clay. Embark will use Christmas with Niko to introduce its “Love Shop” initiative, where shoppers can actually give a puppy as a present to someone who can give it a good home. Dog lovers are known for not forgetting their canine friends at Christmas and so Embark has produced an array of dog treats, toys and accessories for them to spoil their furry friends with. For those who can’t bear to be parted from their pooches and need timely reminders, this month’s Christmas with Niko and adoption day also offer a calendar creation service, where photos of dogs and owners can be turned into calendars for next year.
