Tucked away from the busy bustle of Colombo, down the lush tree lined avenue of Park Road, is a cosy nook where budding entrepreneurs Saarah and Aniqha Dean Ismail have launched their newest venture.
Honey Pot is a ladies-exclusive salon that promises to give the painful subject of waxing a revolutionary makeover.
“We sincerely believe that every woman deserves to look and feel beautiful. Waxing isn’t just a way to flaunt silky smooth skin; it’s also a vital aspect of an individual’s personal hygiene. Aniqha and I know how expensive regular waxing treatments can be so we decided to create the opportunity of making this essential part of your beauty routine an affordable luxury!” says Saarah Dean Ismail. Stepping into Honey Pot, you instantly feel welcomed. Soft over-head lights coupled with soothing Café Del Mar tunes against a backdrop of charming paisley printed walls, lends an ambiance of relaxed sophistication for you to be pampered in. The staff are nothing but friendly, knowledgeable and experienced, describing the various treatments available for you to choose from.
“Our signature wax treatment uses a unique preparation consisting of Organic Bee’s Honey. We have Aloe Vera and Strawberry for sensitive skin and a Chocolate and Tropical Fruit wax for those who wish to be indulgent!” says Aniqha. She goes on to explain that flavoured wax isn’t just a pointless variation in treatment choices but is enriched in essential oils to prepare and soothe your skin before epilating. Strawberry wax for example enlarges the pores in your skin, making it easier for the hair to be released from its shaft therefore making the entire process less painful! The salon also offers a range of other treatments to pamper yourself ranging from rejuvenating facials, body polishing sessions for glowing skin, body scrubs, ingrown treatments and therapeutic deep tissue massages. A variety of hair conditioning treatments are also undertaken to treat dry, damaged and thinning hair, hair loss and dandruff.
The Dean Ismail sisters are no strangers to the commercial world, presently in the midst of also building up their apparel business in the form of fusion14; a trendy clothing store located below the salon featuring their own creations as well as handpicked designs from around Asia.
“We like to think we are in the business of making women look and feel beautiful!” enthuse the sisters. “Our clothing store and Honey Pot is for women who are confident, driven, intelligent and super special. It’s okay to be a little dorky or different! Everyone has their own aura!” they laugh. It’s clearly apparent that the passion, hard work and love for what they do are paying off for Saarah and Aniqha. “We’ve always believed it could work,” they say simply, adding that they intend on growing larger in the days to come.
