Hilton Colombo Residences appoints resident specialty Indian Chef Kumar

Hilton Colombo Residences announces the appointment of its first resident specialty Indian cuisine chef, Ashwini Kumar who commenced work earlier in the month. Ashwini Kumar serves in the role of sous chef at Hilton Colombo Residences, specialising in authentic Indian cuisine for its outlets Verandah Bistro, new Bar & Lounge, Banquets and Outdoor Catering division. He will report to the hotel’s executive chef, Priyal Wijesuriya. “The addition of the first ever foreign resident chef is a part of a greater strategic plan to develop the overall quality and dining experience in the hotel in order to be synonymous with Hilton, globally. Chef Ashwini will be instrumental in gaining more market share for Indian cuisine for the hotel’s restaurants, banquets, and catering departments,” said General Manager Karim Schadlou, when speaking about the appointment. The hotel recently launched the first phase of its development with a new Bar & Lounge and earlier next year, the hotel will launch a multi cuisine restaurant. Kumar brings nine years of experience as sous chef to the hotel; he has been with Hilton Worldwide since 2012. “I enjoy challenges, and I have wanted to have career growth within the Hilton Worldwide group. I believe Sri Lankans enjoy Indian cuisine very much, and I hope to develop the hotel to be recognised as a destination that offers authentic Indian cuisine,” said Kumar. His launch food promotion will be on 9 July to 26 July at Verandah Bistro from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. A dinner buffet will be offered on Wednesday to Saturday in conjunction with a 25% discount for all HSBC credit card holders on total food bill.
