Tipped to be a night to remember Geoff and Friends, featuring one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated bands, Purple Rain come back for a reunion concert hosted by the Hilton Colombo, on 18 March. Led by the charismatic Geoffrey Fernando with the band comprising of some of the hottest names in the field of local western music, the concert is sure to be a star-studded night.
Hosted by the trendsetter in the hospitality industry – Hilton Colombo, the concert is presented by Colombo’s most celebrated nightclub Rhythm and Blues (R&B) and Imran Pakir Saibo from Sri Lanka’s premier name in entertainment Fun Time Productions. The tri-part partnership between the three pioneers in their own industries – Hilton Colombo, Fun Time Productions and R&B, bring the best musical talent to perform for the audience.
The evening is intended to take the audience on a nostalgic journey to re-live the glory days of the Western music scene in Sri Lanka. The dynamic Geoffrey Fernando leads Purple Rain with the backing of Mirage, the concert will boast of several other brilliant entertainers like Noeline Honter, Corrine De Almeida, Rajitha Rupasinghe, Russell Fernando, Debra Rabot and Gehan Fernando. The reunion of Purple Rain will feature Derek Wickramanayake on guitar, Diren Sabaratnam on drums, Michael De Silva on guitar and drums, Kevin De Almeida on guitar and Sudu Goonesekara on keyboards.
Commenting on the concert, Hilton Colombo General Manager Rudolf Tröstler stated: ‘‘We look forward to the concert and the reunion of Purple Rain performing here at the Hilton Colombo, and would like to warmly welcome Geoffery and his band to our hotel.
