HSBC lights up city with ‘Big Christmas Tree’

There was much buzz and festive cheer as HSBC unveiled the city’s big ‘Christmas Tree’ at the Arcade, Independence Square on 29 November 2014. The tree lighting was jointly switched on by Nilantha Bastian, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, HSBC and Lt. Col. Wettasinghe CEO Arcade, followed by a dazzling fireworks display that created a thrilling experience for all visitors especially kids, who witnessed the first ever seasonal celebrations at the Arcade, Independence Square.

The tree lighting was preceded with a live musical concert by YESFM Home Grown artistes performing popular Christmas tunes and some of their original songs. Much to a prolonged start, enthusiastic HSBC customers and visitors joined to be part of the big season celebrations by decorating the big Christmas tree and enjoying a time of togetherness, making it a memorable event for all present. The excitement amid the festive atmosphere was seen earnestly with scores of customers lining up to drop in their wish lists into a gigantic gift box placed at the premises, for a chance to make them come true. A feast of entertainment and festive spirit awaits customers’ as they go about their seasonal shopping at the Arcade with big discounts at popular retail establishments. There will be something for everyone with entertainment from popular YESFM Home Grown artistes and other artistes performing on weekends, leading up to Christmas as well as a chance for kids to meet with Santa.
