Institute of Hairdressers & Beauticians (IHB) students won several accolades and were commended for their outstanding skills and creativity at the recently concluded National Hair and Beauty Awards ceremony.
It was yet another milestone for IHB, since the institute’s primary goal is providing it’s focused and dedicated students the necessary practical and theoretical experience to become successful licensed professionals. Every single student is given the opportunity to become the very best cosmetologist and hairstylist he or she can aspire to become.
Since there was only one category open for students at the National Awards, IHB had the clear distinction of having its students R.A. Virangika win the award and T.K.L. Peiris being the 1st runner-up for the awards of that category.
IHB was launched with the aim of providing enhanced opportunities for local hairdressers, beauticians and barbers to obtain an internationally recognised qualification in their preferred language, while ensuring they maintain skills standards required by the industry. Formed by the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB), the institute is accredited to the World Federation of Hairdressers (OMC).
The academy has an accelerated program that can be completed in as little as 52 weeks. The advanced curriculum is focused and keeps up with the latest methods and techniques of the industry. At the academy, the class sizes are limited which means that the students get personal attention from the trainers. Whether you are mastering the basics or experimenting with the latest styles and trends, you will learn under the guidance of our experienced instructor; Emma Ekman, Silver Medal winner at World Championships 2013.
The academy’s students are known to represent a standard that is exceptional. The entire program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the exciting world of cosmetology and hairstyling in addition to migration eligibility to countries such as Canada, New Zealand, Europe, Middle East and Australia. Many of our students have moved on to very successful careers in the beauty industry both in here and abroad.
Member of the Board of Governors of IHB and Founder President of SLAHAB Nayana Karunaratne said: “The training provided by IHB is designed to reduce skill gaps and produce skilled industry professionals and educators. The students who attend the modules will not be disappointed and are guaranteed to learn from some of the best industry professionals who exude knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and passion.”
