Power of Play, a company that capitalises on performing arts for purposes of communication and development, announced an exciting collaboration with 361° Edge, a boutique training and consultancy company, to introduce how actor training/performance techniques can be utilised in the workplace to increase efficiency of interpersonal communications.

The ‘Intimate Interpersonal Communication Program’(IICP) will focus on going back to the basics of communication of how one’s mind, body and voice should play the most important role in independently delivering a message to gain the desired impact.   It aims at developing self-confidence by providing participants with solid tools of communication used to train actors to successfully portray their roles on stage. Since ‘all the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players’ (As you like it, William Shakespeare), these communication techniques would suit any private, public and institutional environments and propel participants to reach full potential in each of the roles they portray in daily life.

IICP aims to serve professionals from diverse industries and is best enjoyed with fellow colleagues who can share the experience of this completely novel, 100% hands on exploration of natural and simplistic tools of communication that could empower individuals to be aware of their personal and team potential in sustaining successful connections.  This training focuses on putting theory in to practice and is for individuals who wish to capitalise on their inner strengths to become memorable communicators. For more in depth exploration of efficient yet unique communication solutions (internal and external), customised in-house programs are also available.

The first public offering of IICP will be on Wednesday, 13 March 2013 from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Galadari, Colombo. Seats are limited. Please call 0772640052 or email [email protected] for more information. Established in November 2011, Power of Play is the result of a year-long exploration of using theatre, puppets and performance for education, communication and development in Sri Lanka. Drawing inspiration from developed and developing countries that utilise art as a medium of connecting people, Power of Play promotes the idea of ‘playing’ as the key mode of reaching an audience.  The term ‘play’ is used in its broadest context, where it refers to anything and everything that fascinates audiences and capitalises on the happiness that is created through that fascination to instil the desired messages.
