Land Rover, the iconic British motoring brand, has once again partnered with Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) to introduce a unique concept to the shores of Sri Lanka, the first-ever Design Trunk Show
Design Trunk shows were a ritual before the rise of the runway. The intimate in-store previews originally provided designers with an opportunity to present their new collections to select audiences. The name, originated from the fact that designers would carry their fashion and clothing pieces around in a suitcase, it has also been synonymous with the bridal industry for years.
Now Design Trunk shows are emerging as one of the latest fashion retail trends and are being honed by major fashion houses around the world. Ten established Sri Lankan fashion designers, who showcased their work at CFW, have created seasonal collections that will be unveiled at the Galle Face Hotel on 29 November 2014.
Commenting on the partnership, Sheran Fernando, Managing Director, SML Frontier Automotive stated, “At Land Rover we still capture the essence of the past but in a modern way. The Land Rover has evolved a distinct design heritage that is rooted in both authentic luxury and rugged capability. Similarly, Colombo Fashion Week has established a legacy through high levels of quality and designer showcasing. We are proud to be a partner of this unique showcase which is a first for Sri Lanka.”
Colombo Fashion Week is the ideal partner for the Land Rover brand in Sri Lanka. With meticulous attention to detail and progressive luxury products, the two brands boast a shared tradition of excellence that can be seen in both Land Rovers’ unmatched model line-up and in CFW’s well-crafted fashion collections.
