Chaminda Puswedilla and his popular political satire drama has become a firm favourite among Sri Lankans today. Following the success of the stage drama, Chaminda Puswedilla will now be immortalised in black and white with the first ever tea table book. Lipton partners the H.G.H.E. Pus tea table book in a gesture that combines the enjoyment of a hot cuppa with comedy par excellence. What is exceptional about the Puswedilla tea table book is the fact that the book contains quotes from the long running shows of Puswedilla – together with 20 best quotes fans have given on the Facebook page of Lipton. “What is even more interesting is that the quotes are divided into three sections – regular, strong and super strong, which blends well with the Lipton Yellow Label Tea Bag message of regular, strong and super strong tea, just the way you like it,” says Abitha Pathmanathan, Brand Manager – Lipton tea bags at Unilever Sri Lanka. Puswedilla’s smiling Secretary, Cyril Nithamasuffering, a favourite of the hit show, was the face of the tea table book video which went viral on Facebook. In the clip, Cyril, in his usual rib cracking style, tells the story of the book and the quotes from his Lokka featured in it. As Cyril promises in the video, the best 20 quotes were selected and 20 lucky fans won tickets for the show and a tea table book signed by H.G.H.E. Chaminda Puswedilla. H.G.H.E. Chaminda Puswedilla’s Tea Table Book was recently ceremoniously presented to Unilever Sri Lanka Marketing Director – Foods Ramani Samarasundera by H.G.H.E. Chaminda Puswedilla himself. “It is an innovative concept that combines the comforting taste of a good cup of tea with a book you would want to sit down and enjoy,” says Samarasundera, “Lipton is pleased to partner Chaminda Puswedilla in creating this tea table book.” The profits from the sale of the tea table book willbe used to empower the tea pluckers and their families in the estate sector with training in first aid and health promotion. This will be done through the Sri Lanka Saukyadana Movement via Unilever Ceylon Cultural Conservation Trust. “We believe that such an effort is more sustainable and would equip them to become trained first responders in emergencies,” says Unilever Sri Lanka Category Head – Beverages Manindri Bandaranayake. “Everyone loves Chaminda Puswedilla and his larger than life presence on the stage. He has captured the audience with humour and a novel conept and his tea table book with Lipton has become a collector’s item for all the fans of Puswedilla comedy.” It is also unique because for the first time, a much loved brand of tea comes together with a brillantly portrayed stage play that has been one of the country’s most successful in the recent past.
