Be it a home, a hotel, a restaurant or any interior decoration for that matter getting down to the business of furnishing and decorating a space can be quite challenging; especially when you have to visit numerous stores to pick up the furniture, fittings, flooring and other household products.
Since November 2013, Masterpieces’ new flagship store has opened its doors at No. 10, Srimath R.G. Senanayake Mawatha (Gregory’s Road), Colombo 7 providing you the convenience of a one stop store to cater for all your interior decorating needs.
At special viewing of the premises held recently, Masterpieces Ltd. Director N. Sherifdeen addressed the media elaborating on the functions of the new store: “In 1997 I left my job at Capital Maharaja Group where I handled the furnishing section of the group and started my own furniture business at my home along with my wife and two more employees. Our business gradually built through word of mouth and we needed to move to a bigger store. In 2005 we moved in to our store at No. 130, W.A. Silva Mawatha, Wellawatte where we built a good rapport with our customers.”
The Sheriffdeens believed in quality furniture and value for money. First time customers soon became loyal regulars and Masterpieces dived into major projects by furnishing the rooms of luxury hotels and restaurants.
After conquering the hotel business, the company branched out in to providing total interior solutions for popular restaurants in Colombo. The company also treaded in to revamping the interiors of designer clothing outlets in Sri Lanka including signage, racking systems and lighting.
“We were gradually building up our client base and inquiries were pouring in requesting us to have a spacious store in the heart of Colombo 7 which would provide the elite to browse our furniture in a relaxed environment. We are lucky to have found this location on Gregory’s Road which stands in the span of 7,000 square feet and has ample parking space.
“Identifying our customer’s needs we have partnered up with suppliers ranging from lights, paints, flooring, artefacts, fabrics to cater to every single need of decorating the interiors from the bedroom to the outdoor seating areas of a house or a star class hotel. Our main strengths of this long standing business are quality, price and after sales service which has brought us repeat customers and loyal corporate clients. As a part of our interior solutions we provide a free consultation through our team of experienced interior designers to assist you in decorating your living space,” Sheriffdeen further explained.
The furniture exhibited at the store is produced at the Masterpieces very own factory in Panadura and only the raw material is imported. The store collaborates with architects, interior designers and industry specialists to bring out the latest trends in the market. With the services made available at this store one can design, decorate or revamp an entire house after visiting only one store.
