Mobitel offers lowest call home rates for Haj pilgrims

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel has announced the lowest roaming rates for those undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage this year. Mobitel’s call rates will enable pilgrims to call home at rates lower than those offered on Saudi Arabian networks.
During this special promotional period from 15 September to 31 October, Mobitel will offer Hajj pilgrims a free pre-paid SIM, which can be collected from its branch located at the departure lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport. This adds a further level of convenience to customers, who can keep their local Mobitel number and do not have to undergo the hassle of changing their mobile number for the purpose of overseas travel.
This will also enable both pre-paid and post-paid customers to enjoy the lowest roaming rates of Rs. 5 per SMS and Rs. 25 per minute on calls when contacting loved ones back home.
To benefit from these rates, customers will have to dial a special code. For SMSs: *123*(recipient number in Sri Lanka)# and for calls, customers will have to dial *140*94(recipient number in Sri Lanka)#.
