A riot of rich textures and colours evocative of eastern nomadic couture sets the tone for an inspired Spring 2016 collection which launches another year of trend defining style at ODEL, Sri Lanka’s leading department store for fashionistas.
Appropriately themed ‘Wanderlust’ the just-in collection formally unveiled on 1st February mirrors a global fascination with the tribal-chic, ethnic colours, patterns and fabrics that can be expected at a Caravansary. Distinctly ethnic influences, adventurous prints and travel-ready ensembles that reflect the colours and vibrancy of folkloric costumes and native prints from around the globe, dominate in the collection.
Calling to the spirit of adventure and the desire to experience the unknown that sparks the impulse to travel, explore cultures and venture into new situations, ODEL’s Wanderlust collection arms the happy traveller with the confidence of being in step with global style and in sync with the fashion universe.
The fabrics and prints of the new collection use seeds and beads, crochet belts, cotton corded lace, the Indonesian decorative technique ikat, ultra-suede, crochet inserts, Indian blanket patterns, fringe, suede, textured crepe, chiffon, knitted jersey, and ruffles.
Handmade floral embroideries, intricately dyed textiles and bold prints are also among the styles featured in the new collection. Patterned monochromes have been mixed with contrasting pops of colour, while rich embroideries and tassels add the all-important texture to the prints.
A wide-spectrum colour palette of red, orange, brown, green, blue, and white as principal colours supported by shades of maroon, teal, turquoise, orange and yellow make ODEL’s Spring 2016 collection extra striking and lively, calling to the bold and the adventurous dresser who likes to make a statement.
“Our customers expect nothing but the very latest trending designs, and the ODEL Wanderlust collection will not disappoint,” said Desiree Karunaratne, Marketing Director of Softlogic Holdings which owns the iconic department store chain. “It is warm, vibrant and engaging, and the perfect start to a fashionable 2016 for ODEL shoppers.”
