Oktoberfest 2014 kicks off at Mount Lavinia Hotel

The festivities for Oktoberfest 2014 kicked off with a ‘tropicalised’ feel on 7 October at the enchanting beachfront of Mount Lavinia Hotel, The Paradise Beach, a first for any Oktoberfest in Sri Lanka. The festivities will continue till 12 October, imparting a world of fun and excitement for the whole family with the best in music, food and beverages.

The festivities were ceremonially opened by Bazeer Cassim, Group General Manager of the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Shamal Gunawardena, Country Marketing Manager of Coca Cola, Pradeep Durairaj, Brand & Promotions Manager of SriLankan Airlines, Thimal Perera, DGM Retail & SME Banking, HNB, Sanath Fernando, CEO, Tickets.lk and Sujeev Victoria, Sales Manager, KISS FM. Commencing the celebrations, the beachfront of MLH was decked out in countless stalls with delicious food, games and entertainment to keep the entire family entertained with a carnival atmosphere. People were especially thrilled to taste the mouthwatering food such as must-have Oktoberfest specialities and authentic German cuisine prepared exclusively by German Chef Andreas Pflugmacher. Bavarian hostesses and a traditional Bavarian band, the Bavarian Dirndlchaser provided a party atmosphere and imparted the true spirit of the Oktoberfest. The Hostesses, dressed in traditional Oktoberfest costumes joined in the festivities as well. Local band Glory also performed a range of party tunes from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. To experience all this and more, kick off your shoes, slip into your beachwear, gather your family and friends and head over to the shores of Mount Lavinia to join a festival of fun and frolic till the 12th of October.
