PepsiCo launches Aquafina in Sri Lanka

PepsiCo and its franchise partner Varun Beverages Lanka Ltd. announced the launch of Aquafina in Sri Lanka.  Aquafina is a renowned brand in the bottled drinking water arena and currently sold in more than 20 countries including the US. Launched nationally, Aquafina will be available in 20 litre bulk water jars and PET packs of 500ml, 1 litre and 1.5 litres. The launch is being supported by a robust consumer and trade marketing plan. PepsiCo India Country Manager Sri Lanka Ankit Mahajan said: “Our research shows that market for packaged drinking water in Sri Lanka is growing and the launch will give an impetus to the growth of this category and bring in more consumers into our fold. Bulk water is an important addition to our offerings, considering its significance among food service outlets in Sri Lanka. With Aquafina’s Trademarked Seven-Step Purification process Hydro-7, PepsiCo aims to meet a long-standing consumer need for pure water they can trust, at an affordable price.” Making the announcement, Ajay Bhartia, Varun Beverages Lanka Ltd., said, “We are delighted to expand our portfolio of offerings to consumers and institutions with Aquafina. The brand will leverage our production, distribution and cooling infrastructure to give consumers, reliable, pure and trustworthy chilled water within arm’s reach.” Aquafina’s worldwide popularity can be attributed to its rigorous, seven-step, state-of-the-art purification process called Hydro-7 that removes chlorides, salts and other substances that can affect water. The process involves pre-filtration, polishing filter, high-intensity light, reverse osmosis, carbon filtration, polishing filter and ozonisation.
