Dream Life Science (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of local consumer goods producer The Kingdom of Raigam, announced the launch of Swetha Chandanadeelepaya, an ayurvedic unisex skin cream that promises to moisturise, remove unsightly blemishes and give local skin types a golden glow. The product is produced using white sandalwood, venivel, kasthuri kaha, kokum pothu and suwanda kottang as its main ayurvedic ingredients.
The Kingdom of Raigam Chairman and CEO Dr. Ravi Liyanage also introduced popular local Sri Lankan actress and model Yureni Noshika as the company’s brand ambassador for the new product. Speaking to the Daily FT at the launch event, Liyanage stated: “This product was produced after an extensive research and development process, which took over one and a half years. It was a tough challenge for us to introduce a product with local ingredients, because when you use local ingredients they tend to behave in different manners with the other ingredients used in terms of maintaining the colour and texture. However, we managed to overcome all these and launch the product.”
Liyanage added that, “The product is not a whitening cream. The whitening creams you get in the market today, uses a bleaching ingredient which causes various ailments such as skin diseases and it is an artificial process which does not even last. Swetha Chandanadeelepaya will give you a golden glow and protect your skin.”
He continued to say that Raigam takes pride in creating local products that suit the local consumer due to the availability of various imported products that contain untested chemical ingredients which cause more harm than good. In addition, the product can be used by both men and women to get rid of pimples and blemishes and can also be used to soothe and nourish skin as an after shave lotion as well.
Speaking at the launch, Swetha Chand-anadeelepaya Brand Ambassador Yureni Noshika stated that it is a proud day for her to be involved in the launch of a truly local ayurvedic beauty product, as it contains ingredients that many would remember using in their homes. “I am usually very careful about the brands that I represent, but I am happy in this instance to be the brand ambassador for Swetha Chandanadeelepaya because as a person who has used many foreign beauty products and compared the effectiveness of both, I am very happy to say that the product delivers on its promise and suits the skin types of all Sri Lankans.
“The product doesn’t leave an oily residue like other moisturiser brands available, and for me the comfort factor and the difference it has made for my skin alone after using it for the past few weeks, makes me proud to be a part of it as a truly local brand.”
The product, already approved by the Department of Ayurveda, will be available in handy 25g, 45g and 65g packs.
