Rexona rewards good personal hygiene habits

As one of the world’s best selling deodorants, Rexona strives to educate people on sweat and body odour and promote the use of deodorants among both men and women. In keeping with its objectives, the ‘Rexona Phone’ consumer promotion was held recently and 60 winners were awarded with a brand new Samsung Galaxy Y Colour Plus phone along with a preloaded package of Rs. 1,000 each month for the next one year. This island-wide promotion attracted close to 14,000 entries.

“I have being using Rexona daily for the past four years. Not only does it keep my underarms fresh throughout the day it also controls the sweat,” stated one of the promotion winners, Chandula Munasinge from Rajagiriya. H.E.T. Sampath from Maharagama, another lucky winner, said using Rexona gave him the confidence he needs to get through his hectic daily schedule, hence has used Rexona for the past three years.

Vidhushi Rambukwella, Assistant Brand Manager for Deos said, “The biggest challenge in this category is the low awareness one has on the issue of sweat and body odour and the lack of knowledge on the functional benefits of using an anti-perspirant deodorant. This competition gave us the opportunity to show people that deodorant is a vital component in daily personal hygiene. We were also able to create awareness and generate hype for the brand.”

A promotion of this nature has appealed to thousands of Sri Lankans, giving them the opportunity to witness and learn about the importance of using an anti-perspirant deodorant and further to drive the brand as the leader in the deodorant industry.

Aside from this promotion Rexona has taken the initiative to educate target consumers by being a part of inter-university programs and sponsoring youth related television shows.
