‘Sacred Book of Five Hundred and Fifty Jataka Stories’ launched by M. D. Gunasena

M.D. Gunasena, the leading publisher, printer and bookseller, launched the ‘Sacred book of Five Hundred and Fifty Jataka Stories’, a translation of the first 200 Jataka stories at an event held in Queen’s Hotel, Kandy recently.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Governor – Central Province, Prof. Michael Fernando, Prof. K.N.O. Dharmadasa and M.D. Gunasena Managing Director Ananda Gunasena and M.D. Gunasena Deputy Managing Director Rajiv Gunasena.

 Edited by Dr. Ranjani Obeysekera and translated by Prof. Tissa Kariyawasam, Prof. Udaya Meddegama, Prof. Piyaseeli Wijemanne, Prof. Ratna Hadurukanda, Vijitha Fernando, Anushya Kollure, Ajitha Dissanayake, Badra Rodrigo, Usula Wijesuriya, Sumangalika Dharmadasa and Chandrani Pamunuwa, the book is ideal for university students, and for those who wish to study Buddhism.

M.D. Gunasena since its incorporation in 1913 has become the most prestigious publisher in Sri Lanka with 17 outlets island-wide. For more than a century, the company has remained at the forefront of the publishing industry and literature in Sri Lanka.
