A busy lifestyle in a metropolitan city often finds many Sri Lankans in a dilemma every morning. The same problem occurs when the clock strikes noon and it’s time for lunch. Many of us often ask, what are we going to eat today? It’s certainly not a lack of options as Colombo is overcrowded with restaurants, cafés and coffee shops serving every possible type of cuisine. However, the right blend of tasty, healthy and affordable options seems to be hard to come by. Understanding this need, Barista Sri Lanka who first entered the local market with their signature coffee in 2002, have introduced a new range of specialty sandwiches to suit even the most discerning palette. The range includes international favourites like smoked chicken or prawn salad infused with avocado, ham and cheese with mustard, egg salad or cheese complimented by sun blushed tomatoes, and tuna and cucumber. The twist in the menu comes from the traditional Sri Lankan variants of pol sambol and egg, and spicy polos and cheese. Sandwiches are made with either white or multi-grain bread ensuring that everyone gets exactly what they need. The new range also includes a variety of wraps stuffed generously with rosemary grilled chicken with grilled onion salad and chicken tikka with raita. Vegetarian and vegans are not left out of the menu either with a delicious hummus with grilled vegetables tortilla wraps which most non-veg fans are also opting for owing to the blend of flavours that is just right. To complement the new menu, Barista has also fine tuned their desserts and beverages menu by dropping some of the items and keeping the favourites. The good ol’ waffles with honey, whipped cream and chocolate sauce still finds place of pride while the bestselling Barista brownie and blueberry cheesecake remain. Chocoholics are also in for a treat with the Nutella cake which is heaven in a slice to say the least. The traditionally blended Lavazza coffee in hot and cold variants which initially brought customers to the Barista outlets are still the crowd-pullers and compliment the new food menu well. For those who are less appreciative of the distinct taste and aroma of coffee, Barista also offers flavoured hot and iced-tea, smoothies, milkshakes, virgin mojitos and fresh fruit juice. Freshly made food and brewed to perfection coffee have been the norm at Barista for more than a decade and have now taken a step further in to offering the perfect meal for everyone. Combining the new sandwiches and wraps with a coffee drink in to an any-time-of day combo means a healthy, tasty and affordable breakfast or lunch. Available at 14 Barista outlets island wide, the new menu will also bring a few surprises to frequent and new customers in terms of value for money. All outlets are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
