“We are nails, nibbles, retail therapy, we are driven by our desire to provide a lifestyle; we are the nail anatomy,” says Meili Lin Mather, a dazzling, radiant young Singaporean, the holder of a Masters Degree in Applied Finance. Mather has opened a dedicated nail bar, creating a new concept in nail culture in Sri Lanka. The ambiance of The Nail Anatomy is inviting, fun and modern. Nails covered in glitter, velvet, polka dots, checks, stripes, flowers, ‘va va voom’ nails, even your own picture on your nails, unbelievable as it sounds, can now be had at the Nail Anatomy. Latest technology in nail art “We are bringing the latest technology in nail art which allows you to take pictures of yourself and print them on to your nails, or take a photo of the prints on your outfit and print them on your nails. This amazing convenience will allow you to match your nails with your outfit in a jiffy and it’s great for corporate events as well,” said Meili. Married to Sri Lankan, former National Swimming Captain Sujendra Mather, whom she met in Singapore, Sujendra is fully involved in his wife’s venture, providing her with all the help and guidance she needs. A combination of beauty, brains and business acumen, Meili has modelled for Louis Vuitton and Laniege to name a few, while having worked in the commodities trading space for seven years for global commodities trading houses as well as a bank. “I love fashion and all things related to it and though I am strictly speaking not a style consultant, people have always come to me for advice on dressing,” she said. The Nail Anatomy is driven by Meili’s desire to provide a lifestyle. “We believe in using only products we would use ourselves and provide only the best and most personal service possible to you. Our approach is simple, honest and heartfelt. We create what we feel and do it because we love taking care of you.” Hygiene and sanitisation Hygiene and sanitisation are of prime importance at Nail Anatomy. Each client is treated with a new and disposable nail and foot file, while all reusable equipment is sterilised and placed in a dry heat steriliser prior to each and every client appointment. The dry heat steriliser is similar to those used to sterilise surgical equipment in hospitals. This machine sterilises without moisture or chemicals, while eliminating all bacteria and fungus, ensuring that Nail Anatomy’s equipment meets the most exacting hygiene standards. “Dry heat steriliser machines are far superior to the UV sterilisation machines, commonly used in the beauty industry, as they are the only machines that guarantee a 100% sterilisation rate of all bacteria and fungus,” said Meili. Exciting products Nail Anatomy’s gel nails would last up to 21 days, while a fan shaped colour chart does away with the hassle of trying on different colours of nail polish to find the one that ultimately suits you! Estessimo Tins from Japan, a favourite brand of nail polish amongst Japan’s glitterati, including pop star Ayumi Hamasaki, is also available at the Nail Anatomy. It has ultra fine glitter and is infused in avocado oil and aloe extract that prevent the nails from drying out. Another ‘first’ at the Nail Anatomy is a special package, ‘Princess Anatomi Manicures’ and ‘ Princess Anatomi Pedicures’ for little princesses under 10, while a private two seater room is also available for those with problem feet and nails, who don’t wish to expose them to all and sundry. Future plans Meili’s future plans include ensuring that service standards are constantly upheld in the years to come, whilst expanding into other lifestyle sectors and building a strong brand which is synonymous with providing international service standards, so that everyone in Sri Lanka will be able to enjoy the good life without having to travel abroad to experience it. The Nail Anatomy uses Seche Vite base coat and quick dry top coat as part of its services, coupled with individual tools and international service levels at an affordable price. “At Nail Anatomy we have revolutionised the term ‘accessorising.’ It is no longer limited to earrings, necklaces, etc. You can now accessorise your nails easily to match your outfits! Draw attention to your nails and you no longer need other expensive accessories to up your wow factor! Our brand also helps clients with social grooming and advices clients on colour coordination to complement a personality or products for their lifestyle needs.” All told, Nail Anatomy and Meili Lin Mather seem set to take Colombo by ‘nail-storm’.
