Students of Chrissy’s Academy demonstrate skills at SLECC Bridal Show 2012

Chrissy’s Hair Design Studio and Academy in Wattala and Kandana held its annual Graduation Ceremony where its Founder and Principal Chrissy Rozairo saw the passing out of yet another batch of her talented  and capable students. Having awarded both local and international Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas in Hairdressing and Beauty Culture the students subsequently demonstrated their skills in numerous fields of hair styling and make-up as well as face painting at the SLECC Bridal show 2012.

A former president of the Sri Lanka Association of Hair Dressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB), Chrissy Rozairo received her first diploma from the renowned Morris School in London followed by a course in advanced hair cutting from Vidal Sassoon along with creative hair cutting techniques from Tony & Guy. She had begun her career in the field of bridals, hair dressing and makeup, opening her own salon well over two decades ago.

“Teaching has given me immense satisfaction through which I experience the joy of sharing my blessings. All students that come to the Academy, grow in their skills to become focused on what they want to become and be satisfied with themselves along the way,” stated Chrissy Rozairo elaborating on her endeavours in passing down her expertise.

The certificates and trophies were awarded to the students by Chrissy Rozairo and the event was graced by past brides, brides to be, clients and parents of students. The event had a dedicated slot for the students offering them the opportunity to exhibit their creativity and imagination along with the knowledge in colour coordination as well as shape and balance in hair dressing and make up. The bridal show was compered by Kumar de Silva and choreographed by Brian Kerkoven.

“In the Academy we guide our students to make use of their best qualities and talents. These students have shown keen interest in the subject and some of them are even seeking jobs abroad while others have the intention of opening their own Salons. What we offer is a holistic education that helps them become better persons,” added Chrissy explaining about her students.

Raffaella Fernando, a young reputed designer from Kandana and client at Chrissy’s was invited to design the costumes, while the current and graduate students of Chrissy’s handled the hair and make-up, working with colors provided by Wella, which was the highlight of the show.

Chrissy’s Academy is certified by the City and Guilds awarding body and the Institute of Hair and Beauty and enrols students from an array of backgrounds who are keen on learning as well as developing their talents  and skills in the art of hair dressing and make-up.

“The excitement of the show was a result of the teamwork between the staff, students and myself bonding us further together to create, where the students learn the value of teamwork and accommodating the thoughts of others, elements that complete any institute.
