Asia’s premier electronic dance music festival is coming to Sri Lanka for the first time on 6 October 2012 at CH&FC grounds.
Percept Limited, one of the largest entertainment media companies in India, announced on Thursday its partnership with Citrus Leisure PLC, Sri Lanka’s fastest growing leisure group, to present Sri Lanka first international event endorsed by VH1.
Expect this event to be of a high standard with world-renowned Grammy winner and world’s No. 7 DJ Afrojack headlining the first-ever biggest electronic dance music festival in Sri Lanka. The event will consist of local and international acts along with some vibrant Indian acts and state-of-the-art technology.
Five years since its inception in 2007, the Sunburn Festival has now built for itself a great reputation, drawing over 100,000 people every year and having won many awards and nominations, including being listed as one of the top 10 best musical festivals in the world. It has also been voted as the best live Entertainment Event of the Year in 2008 and 2010 and the best festival of the year at the WOW Awards.
Owned by Percept Live, Percept’s global entertainment venture, the Sunburn Festival has hosted many famous DJs such as Axwell, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van dyke Markus Schulz and Sander Van Doorn to name a few. Percept Live also owns some spectacular events such as Fight Night, Bollywood Live, Lost Music Festival and Windsong.
Harindra Singh, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Percept Limited stated that he was quite surprised how developed Sri Lanka is and expressed his delight over our love for electronic dance music. “Sri Lanka is an untapped, vibrant and growing market for consuming entertainment, music and sports products.” He also mentioned that Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with lovely people and believes Sri Lanka has great capability to make it big in the music industry.
Along with Singh, Chandana Talwatte, Executive Director and CEO of Citrus, Lasantha Perera, CEO of Citrus Vacations, Sarva Ameresekere, Director of Citrus Leisure, Chrishantha Jayasinghe, CEO of Sarva Integrated and Suresh Jayaweera, Director Operations of Sarva Integrated was present at Park Street Mews to unveil the Sunburn banner for the Sunburn Festival Colombo 2012.
