Reuters: Swiss watchmaker Swatch is introducing a new line of “smart” watches - but it doesn’t want to follow in the footsteps of the Apple Watch.
“We don’t want to produce a mini mobile phone on your wrist,” Swatch CEO Nick Hayek said at a news conference for the Swatch Group recently, according to Reuters. “Others can do that.”
Headquartered in Biel, Switzerland, Swatch revealed an addition to its line of ‘Swatch Touch’ watches.
The Touch Zero One sports a curved screen with built-in backlight, and gets the finger-tap and side-swipe control seen in Swatch watches. Just like most watches, it comes with sports and fitness tracking, especially Beach Volleyball. It should be noted that Swatch happens to be the sponsor of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
The watch lets you set fitness goals using a virtual coach. It will communicate with your smartphone using the new Touch Zero One app, presumably it will work with both Android as well as iOS. The details about the Swatch Touch Zero watch are still scanty.
