Brand Ambassador Shah Rukh Khan unveils the TAG Heuer Carrera India Racing Limited Edition Chronograph

TAG Heuer, the unparalleled leader in sports watches and chronographs, recently celebrated ‘Racing India Night’ at the Sheraton Saket, New Delhi.

The evening began with a press conference where brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the much-anticipated second edition of the TAG Heuer ‘India Racing Limited Edition’ chronograph.

TAG Heuer’s DNA is one of motor racing, having most of their collections inspired by the precision and accuracy of the sport. In 2003, TAG Heuer signed on the ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’ Shah Rukh Khan as its Indian brand ambassador, entrenching itself further in the Indian luxury market. The brands motor sporting DNA met the biggest face in India to unveil the ultimate India inspired racing watch at the TAG Heuer Racing India Night.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Tachymeter Chronograph has been chosen for this year’s special edition. The Carrera Series draws its name from the most prestigious and dangerous endurance race of its day. Carrera - which in Spanish, means “competition of the highest order” is apt for this special edition, as it is synonymous with sports, excitement, danger, adventure and heroism.

This 250 pieces numbered limited edition has been adorned with the logo of ‘The ‘Mastering Speed for 150 Years’ inspired from the successful 2011 edition, which sold out within three weeks. The logo has been placed on the dial at 9 ’o clock as well as on the Sapphire Crystal case back. The numeral 60 at the 12 O’clock position, along with the thread stitching on the leather strap is in the India saffron colours. The top pusher button also has an orange band circling it to give it a burst of racing energy.

Shah Rukh Khan showed off his limited edition timepiece amidst an excited crowd of the crème de la crème of New Delhi.

Encouraging a little fun competition, the Brand Ambassador was asked to compete with Asian driver Armaan Ebrahim. Armaan was the first (and ultimately, only) Asian driver to sign up for the rebirth of Formula Two in 2009.  Before the competition began, Armaan was honoured by the brand with the TAG Heuer Award for sporting excellence and his very own TAG Heuer Carrera ‘India Racing Limited Edition’ Chronograph, for his achievements and contribution to Indian Sports.

Together Shah Rukh Khan and Armaan on the virtual racetrack made ‘Racing India Night’ even more memorable, amongst the cheering onlookers echoing Steve McQueen’s sentiments “Racing is life, anything that happens before or after is just waiting.”

At the launch, Franck Dardenne, GM TAG Heuer India, said: “Once the 2011 Edition of the Carrera India Racing Limited Edition Chronograph sold out, our customers requested us to launch a new model of this timepiece. We are very happy to present this 2012 edition of the Carrera India Racing. It is a symbol of the fit between a brand born on the track and a country which shares more and more our passion for motorsport.”

Brand Ambassador Shah Rukh Khan commented: “TAG Heuer has always re invented itself, and today I am excited to launch this timepiece which takes the best of all that is India and all that is TAG Heuer. Another one-of-a-kind timepiece to add to my collection!”
