Prof. Ramani Arsecularatne is one of the pioneering cosmetologists in Sri Lanka and the founder of Ramani Arsecularatne International Academy of Cosmetology (RAIAC) – South Asia’s best vocational training institute. She has been an industry virtuoso who has paved the way for many new entrants to the Sri Lankan hair, beauty and fine arts industries to weave their career paths. With industry expertise of over two decades as an acclaimed Professor of Cosmetology, Prof Arsecularatne continues to render immense service to the industry. Her vision is to help people build up their levels of confidence by looking their best, by introducing latest industry innovations to the country. As Prof. Arsecularatne puts it, her journey towards success has been a steady, step-by-step process. Being educated in internationally reputed institutions in the United States of America, United Kingdom, France and Japan, she is a graduate of the Christine Valmy Institute – New York and Kimari International – Singapore and is also the first Sri Lankan to have obtained a degree in the field of beauty and hairdressing. Seeing the pressing need for an institution in the country that offered academic and professional courses in the field of hair and beauty, Prof. Arsecularatne took the first step in establishing RAIAC, to help thousands of Sri Lankan students who sought careers in the industry. Commenting on the establishment of the academy, Prof. Arsecularatne said, “I saw the requirement of a fully equipped school in Sri Lanka for cosmetology and this motivated me to establish an institution, which offered academic programs for those who are interested in this field. Since I had the opportunity of travelling all over the world, I saw how such schools were maintained in other countries and what sort of quality standards they adhered to. My academy had a very humble beginning and has reached its current position level by level. Today, it is one of the leading institutions in the country.” Widening her business scope through diversification, Prof. Arsecularatne also ventured to set up a salon that offers skin and hair treatments with undisputed result deliverance of 100 percent. At Ramani Arsecularatne salons, customers are ensured a personalised service with customised treatments to optimise customer satisfaction. Taking forward this legacy and reputation, Dr. Shanika Arsecularatne too has joined her mother, Prof. Arsecularatne, to service the ever-increasing clientele for standardised aesthetic skin and hair treatments. Dr. Shanika Arsecularatne discovered her passion for Aesthetic Medicine at a very young age and she is the youngest in Sri Lanka to have obtained the post Graduate Advanced Diploma by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. Today, with her mother’s constant guidance and blessings, she ventures onto establishing her own medical practice to provide advanced Aesthetic medical treatments that are clinically proven and backed by extensive research under the name of Christell Skin Clinic. Elaborating on the importance of Aesthetic Medicine, Dr. Shanika said, “Aesthetic Medicine exalts the association between health and beauty, because beauty means to feel good under one’s own skin and to have a perfect psychophysical balance.” Dr. Shanika is skilled to tackle many skin and hair diseases by combining the newest medical technologies ranging from non-surgical correction involving lasers, chemical resurfacing to surgical scar revision. She also has vast experience in managing cutaneous manifestations of Hyperandrogenism and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. For Dr. Shanika, every patient that comes to her for advanced skin treatment is a new challenge. She is motivated to help people and sees to it that throughout the process of treatment, the client is comprehensively advised on the procedure and results of each medication. “We are always geared to deliver our clients a quality service with the results they look for,” added Dr. Shanika.
