Textured Jersey launches new collection Glacé

Textured Jersey (TJL) recently launched their second seasonal annual collection at a grand event that brought together some of their key customers. Designers and fabric technologists from some of the leading vendors were gathered to view TJL’s new fabric collection ‘Glacé’ designed by the company’s Development and Innovation arm.  

Making a presentation at the event, Head of Developments and Innovations Somasiri Manage said that the collection was inspired by the look, shades and sweet flavours of its namesake French Candy.

He added that a lot of research and planning went into the creation of Glacé. “Our key R & D teams had continuous discussions with both customers and retailers in order to ensure that we were in sync with current fashion trends with this collection and we have been able to deliver on target. Our fabrics are predominantly for Intimates, Sleepwear and Lounge categories and Glacé carries a range which would inspire our customers to become more creative with their product offerings to end consumers.” Somasiri says that the collection has been very well received by their customers and is expected to make a significant impact on the fashion world.

The Glacé collection offers five ranges of fabric created to the highest possible standards. ‘Deluxe’ the premium range involves complex knitting technologies that allows for luxuriously light fabrics which drape deliciously. TJL’s exclusive range recommended for intimates, sleepwear as well as outerwear offers a level of sophistication and comfort to the high end consumers and targets buyers who would pay premium dollar for this product.

The more earthy ‘Prithvi’ range has been designed with green eco concepts in mind. Produced using sustainable fibres such as linen, bamboo and recycled polyester with cellulosic blends, these fabrics present an ideal solution for customers and buyers who place more emphasis on eco solutions.

The new collection’s ‘Vogue’ range is for the trend setter. The fabrics are created using a variety of textural yarns and dying methods that harmonise to produce myriad pastel shades and prints. These fabrics are structured to meet the latest trends in the fashion industry, so that their customers would be able to meet the seasonal demands of their high flying consumers.

The highlight of the collection is the ‘Synth’ range as TJL will be the only fabric manufacturer in the region to offer a synthetic product solution to their customers. The ‘Synth’ range is all about exotic nylons, lightweight and strong in appearance, for customers and buyers looking for a synthetic solution that is ‘in’ with the times.

The Glacé collection also makes room for the bold and the flamboyant, made even easier by TJL’s own printing mill, courtesy of the company acquiring Quenby Lanka last year. The new range ‘Flambo’ showcases the company’s printing expertise with a variety of colourful prints on polyester blends to regenerated fabrics, widening the choice for their customers.

The entire collection keeps to its theme of textures, colours and the melt in the mouth feel of French candy which is the inspiration behind Glacé.

Nadeesha Banadara said that the Flambo and Vogue ranges in TJL’s new collection were ideal for their customers who continue to request a wider range of printed fabrics as well as different structures and designs. “This collection offers just what they would want,” he added.

“This is a superb collection which reflects different aspects of fabrics in terms of colours and textures and gives us an opportunity to create a wider range of products, and with this endeavour we have grown one step closer to our customers in terms of offering a better quality service,” said MAS Fabrics Head of Design Poornima Wijendra.

Sanjeewa Buddhika, who was representing the TESCO office in Sri Lanka at the launch event, also has positive things to say about the collection. “The fabrics presented had a finer hand feel and touch. The raw martial used is of the highest quality and there is a wider range of drapier fabrics which would offer better solutions for sleepwear,” he said. 

Meanwhile for Decatholon Country Manager Sameera Munasinghe, the winning point was Glacé’s ‘Synth’ collection which he said would give them a wider range of synthetic options, which was a requirement for active wear.

One of the unique aspects in producing this year’s collections were the synergies brought in by their acquired operations. TJL COO Operations – Dyeing and Finishing Pubudu de Silva, commenting on the value addition of synergies said that both Quenby and OCI, India, who are now extended arms of the company, had made valuable contributions to the collection in terms of exclusive printing and the provision of brush fabrics etc. increasing their overall creative and product capabilities.
