The Body Shop armours up with Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence; now available in Colombo

The Body Shop in Sri Lanka introduced ‘The Body Shop Skin Defence’ to its arsenal of products designed to keep sentry at your skin. The multi-protection serum comes enriched with SPF 50 for UVB protection in a gentle, 100% vegetarian formula for fearless combat against skin aggressors.

This formula is specially designed for cosmopolitan women in the city; a combination of UVA/UVB rays, air pollution, air conditioning, radiation, temperature and humidity, hard water and artificial blue light concocts a dirty cocktail of external aggressors, each amplifying the other to spell disaster for the skin. A 2014 study of 200 women aged between 30 and 45 revealed that city living can make the skin age 10% faster due to damage caused by airborne particles. The Body Shop’s brand new Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence is a daily use essential that can help your skin combat the impact of urban living for a brighter, more radiant outlook.

This is our strongest ever broad-spectrum protection formula to shield the skin from these effects.”

The feather light texture of the formula means the Skin Defence essence is lightweight, fast absorbing, and completely non-comedogenic. In studies commissioned by The Body Shop, 9 out of 10 women agreed that the non-sticky formula felt lightweight and rapidly penetrated the skin. The SPF 50 in the formula helps protect from short and long UVA rays, which can result in loss of collagen and elastin, and UVB rays that trigger redness and burn damage to the skin surface. 

The 100% vegetarian formula doesn’t use harmful parabens, mineral oils and paraffins. Instead it is infused with a blend of red algae extract and vitamin C for luminous skin, and Community Trade marula oil sourced in cooperation with the Eudofano Women’s Co-operative in Ondangwa, Northern Namibia. The marula oil produced by this community is cold-pressed to preserve the quality of its hydrating and smoothing properties.
