Season 4 of the Shopping Star annual shopping promotion, jointly organised by Unilever Sri Lanka and Cargills Food City draws to a successful closure recording a surplus of interest from customers. The extensive first round of the competition commenced on 17 October and rolled out for eight weeks covering all districts of the island and selecting 10 winners for the grand finale, scheduled to be held on 27 December at a Cargills Food City outlet in Colombo.
The action packed grand finale will see the 10 finalists selected from district competitions competing for the grand prize of Rs. 2 million, second prize of Rs. 1 million and the third prize of Rs. 500,000. The 10 winners who made their way to the grand finale are namely: Mayurika Nadeeshani from Maharagama, Sadini Appuhami from Katubedda, MDKN Samarasekara from Galle 2, Fathima from Duplication Road, Fathima Nusrath from Matale, Oshadi Jinanjali from Katugasthota, Arulanadam from Batticloa, Maduranga Gamage from Wattala, W.P.D. Pathirana from Kurunegala and M. Rimzana from Jaffna. In addition to the first three prizes, Cargills Food City and Unilever Sri Lanka will reward the other seven contestants with gold jewellery worth Rs. 50,000 each.
Unilever Sri Lanka and Cargills Food City introduced the ‘Shopping Star’ competition to aptly reward their loyal customer base and engage with them in a fun-filled and enjoyable experience. Thus the program was tailor-made with activities and prizes designed to generate more hype and successfully reach out to millions of Cargills Food City and Unilever Sri Lanka customers across the island.
The first round of the competition rolled out at selected Cargills Food City outlets across the island and customers who shopped for at least three of the eight nominated Unilever brands, namely Signal, Lifebuoy, Sunsilk, Lipton, Pears, Vim, Surf Excel and Vaseline were eligible to take part in the district competitions. 10 lucky customers were selected for each district competition through a raffle draw and 10 winners from the 10 district competitions proceeded to the dazzling grand finale. Organisers rewarded all district contestants with vouchers worth Rs. 10,000 each.
