In line with the 14th UN Vesak Day celebrations held in Sri Lanka from 12 to 14 May, the Consulate General Office organised a ‘Public exhibition of sacred relics’ and a special ‘Sathbudu Puja’ at Milan Lankarama Viharaya, the first Theravadha Buddhist temple established in 1996, in Milan, Italy.
Rev. Olaboduwe Muditha Thero and Rev. Bulathsinhala Samitha Thero, resident monks of Lankarama Temple presided over the religious ceremonies. Sri Lankan community living in Lombardy region were present at the religious ceremonies.
The Consulate General Office was also decorated with colourful Vesak lanterns and illuminations prepared jointly by the staff and the community members.
