From gastronomical cities to picturesque mountains, France has everything that a traveller wants to indulge in. At a recent cultural day dedicated to French gastronomy, the Waters Edge took centre stage in Sri Lanka by being the only hotel to serve up handpicked French cuisines.
Sitting through the entire experience one could note that the French never rush through their meals. It takes a good hour or more to consume a proper French dinner which consists of a staple diet of fish, meats, vegetables, cheese, nuts and dessert. No French meal is completed unless you complement it with suitable reds or whites and a connoisseur of spirits was readily available to guide the diners through the course.
Waters Edge General Manager Rohan Fernandopulle along with Executive Chef Buddhika Samarasekera and a Wine Sommelier spoke about each dish and wine that was served with each course. Among the audience were French expats who were happy to talk about their diverse culture and cuisine.
