WNPS monthly lecture on tomorrow

The Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka (WNPS) will host their monthly lecture on Thursday (20 February) at the Meteorology Department on ‘Whales and dolphins in Sri Lanka: from obscurity to fame and emerging threats’. The lecture will be conducted by subject specialist A.D. Ilangakoon. Ilangakoon has studied cetaceans in the waters around Sri Lanka since 1985 and is the author of the first guidebook on whales and dolphins of Sri Lanka. She has published over 50 scientific papers in international scientific journals based on the result of her research on marine mammals. Ilangakoon is a member of the Cetacean Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission and a member of the Convention on Migratory Species Scientific Council’s Aquatic Mammals Working Group. The lecture will be held at 6:15 p.m. at the auditorium of the Meteorology Department at No: 383, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. It is an open event with free entrance.
