The corporate culture of organisations may have been impacted by the pandemic! Has it? Has the ‘Work from Home’ created a wedge between the management and employees? For over 18 months, employees have lost jobs perhaps due to restructuring, they have had to face a reduction in compensation and sometimes other benefits, in some cases they have had to multitask, all this and more has resulted in disengagement with their valued employees.

Is the organisation’s corporate culture strong and well-embedded that it has withstood all such negatives?

Corporate culture begins when the leadership communicates their desired values and norms to all employees. For example, they might express ideas and views and give clear directions on innovation, improving safety standards, prioritising customer needs. Employees then interpret these instructions from their own perspectives and communicate their views to each other and within their teams. All of these interpretations form a corporate culture comprising values, norms, and customs, which together establish tacitly agreed rules for behaviour.

In this backdrop, has the corporate culture been impacted by the ‘Work from Home’ concept? Teams have been separated to work in rosters, some have resigned for whatever the reason, some made redundant!

To discuss such an important subject that has a bearing on the ability of organisations to attract the right talent and retain them, a webinar has been organised by TMC, CMI and CIMA, to be held on 26 October. Participating as panellists to evaluate, assess and perhaps draw conclusions on this vital aspect of corporate management, are some key corporate personalities, such as John Keells Holdings PLC Chief People Officer/Executive Vice President Isuru Gunasekera, and Unilever Sri Lanka Country HR Director Ananya Sabharwal, whilst representing The Management Club (TMC) would be its Founder and President Emeritus, Past President of CMI, and Chairman/MD of Mankind International Ltd., Executive Search Ltd. Aims and MPL group, who is considered the headhunting Guru, Fayaz Saleem.

CMI will be represented by its Past President and Past President of TMC and until recently Group MD/CEO of Ambeon Holdings and former Group MD of Brown’s Murali Prakash, Zahara Ansary, Country Manager of CIMA, Kaushal Rajapaksha President of CMI and Chairman of Minuwangoda Ministry of Industries, Industrial Estate, Vice President of Pakistan Sri Lanka Business Association, Vice President of Confederation of Small and Medium Scale Industries, Group Managing Director of Kalhari Enterprises Group and Sail Lanka Yachting Group and District Governor of Lions, District 306 B, Immediate Past President of Plastics and Rubber Institute, Exco Member of Singapore and China Business Council.

The program will be moderated by Daily Financial Times Editor Nisthar Cassim. The event is scheduled for 26 October from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This webinar would be a useful forum for heads of corporates, GMs, CFOs, CMOs and HR Heads. Register early by 20 October.
