Murali Prakash, a renowned leader in Sri Lanka’s retail business, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Retailers Association (FAPRA). The leadership role was officially handed over by outgoing Chairman, Roy Nicholas Mandey, representing the Indonesian Retailers Association, during a grand ceremony at the Shangri-La Hotel on 6 September. The event was attended by over 350 guests and delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region.

FAPRA, which includes member nations such as China, Taiwan, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam, represents a powerful coalition in the retail sector. As Deputy Chairman, Prakash’s election to this prestigious position comes as a natural progression, highlighting his years of leadership and dedication.

Murali Prakash has an impressive history of leadership across various organisations, including senior roles at Singer and Browns, as well as board memberships in several publicly listed companies. He is the former President of the Chartered Management Institute UK, Sri Lanka Branch and the Immediate Past President of The Board of Management of The Management Club (TMC), where his dynamic leadership earned widespread recognition.

The Management Club takes immense pride in congratulating Murali Prakash on this well-deserved appointment and is confident that he will bring the same passion, vision, and success to FAPRA as he has to his previous roles.
