The new Executive Committee of The Management Club of Colombo held its second meeting on 7 October on Zoom. The recent exco meetings have all been conducted online as the majority of the exco members preferred to make it online due to the current situation in the country. However it was unanimously decided to conduct all the future meetings at the TMC premises, at the Galadari Hotel.

After a lengthy discussion, the committee had agreed and decided to organise a minimum of three to five events. For the past one-and-a-half years, there was no networking for members, therefore the committee has decided to explore the possibility of organising two networking events in November and December adhering to all the health guidelines imposed by the Government.

Since there have been many virtual professional forums being conducted during the past one-and-a-half years, the committee has decided to organise a minimum of two physical professional events in January and February and one with an international resource person.

Committee members noted that the Sri Lankan corporate community did not get a chance to attend a physical professional event with any international resource persons recently, hence the desire to bring down an international resource person to Sri Lanka and organise an event where it will benefit not only TMC members but all the corporate executives.

The TMC Colombo Xmas party is one of the key networking events which brings all the members and their families to together. The exco had also decided to organise a TMC Xmas carols service with restricted participation at the Galadari Hotel. The committee believes that this will make a fresh start for the year ahead.

While we focus on resuming all the networking events, professional forums, the exco has decided to continue its virtual forum which was organised during the past-one-and-a-half years with other professional bodies such as SLIM, etc. Therefore from November onwards, in addition to the physical events TMC Colombo will organise the monthly virtual program. Since the corporate community in Sri Lanka is trying to get back to normalcy, the committee also unanimously decided to resume the TMC Colombo monthly members evening with a guest speaker.

President Pradeep Edward appointed a five-member committee headed by Duneesha Bogoda for the forthcoming networking events. It also noted that many corporate sector employees have lost their jobs in the past hence the committee has decided to organise an entrepreneurship program series as it might benefit many professional managers and executives.
