The new executive committee of The Management Club Mt. Lavinia had its first planning meeting on 8 September. The meeting was conducted on a zoom platform in keeping with the pandemic regulations of the country.
The committee has agreed that they will focus on five strategic areas this year that can significantly increase value to the membership and have appointed members with the committee to lead these initiatives by forming sub-committees form the broader membership. TMC Mt. Lavinia Chairman Roger Talayaratne explained the strategic focus areas and the respective leads for each area.
1)Management development programs – led by Kanishka Ranaweera
This sub-committee will focus on organising management development programs aimed at developing, management skills for members and the also the management field at large. The programs will range from updating managers on the ongoing developments in the profession and also helping budding young manager to develop basics skills to help them along their future road to greatness.
2)Club development and member service – led by Manish Rodrigo
The Club development team will be in close contact with membership finding ways to improve the current benefits and services to the membership and also helping members with renewals. This team will help the membership be informed of all club activities and drive participation. They will be the voice of the membership communicating their current and future needs of the membership and align the club strategy to fulfil these requirements.
3)New member onboarding – led by Chandana de Soysa
The onboarding team will enable the new members joining the club, settle in with ease. They understand the importance of first impression and guide the new members from application stage through, interviews to finalising membership and issuing of membership cards. This team will also scout out and keep a keen eye out to recruit potential professionals who can add value to the membership and the club.
4)Social and networking meetings – led by Mario Alpheal
The social and networking team will ensure that the membership will frequently meet and greet, network and fellowship. In their role they will arrange social gathering and networking meeting and ensure everyone has fun and entertainment in the process. You know what they say about ‘all work and no pay’ and this team is geared to put smiles on faces and ensure TMC is a fun place to be.
5)Media, branding and event promotion – led by Jehan Fernando
The media and branding team will work on keeping the professional managers in Sri Lanka including but not limited to membership informed about the activities of the club and what the club stands for. This team will also advertise the events of the club and aid in creating strong identity and presence for TMC.
