The Management Club – Mount Lavinia recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Scope Cinemas to conduct a series of management skill development programs to train small and medium-scale (SME) cinema owners to help them develop the competency to improve their overall business performance.
The Management Club aims to provide cinema owners with the required skills and knowledge to grow their businesses and become more sustainable. This program, organised by The Management Club, will facilitate skill development in PR, media management, customer service, social media marketing, and event management. Thus, the cinema owners will receive training in business practices, financial management, marketing and advertising, and human resource management.
TMC Mt. Lavinia Vice Chairman and Project Chair for Management Development Prashan Costa stated that TMC, a voluntary club with a varied pool of experts, has done several projects to improve the management skills of SMEs, corporates, and graduates. The Club has completed several tasks to enhance the management abilities of these three groups to prepare them to face challenges of the business environment. TMC’s vision is to bring together professional managers so that they can interact with one another, develop their potential management, leadership, and business skills, and make a significant contribution to society while improving their competency levels.
The Vice Chairman also states, “Today the film sector worldwide has a challenging task – satisfying audiences who demand entertainment along with comfort and convenience, all while complying with complex and ever-changing regulations. Therefore, this training program aims to give support and a broad overview of what cinema owners should know about when running a cinema theatre to perform better.”
At the event, Scope Cinemas Ltd. Director/CEO and TMC member Thushan Meemanage explained that this program would provide much direction and guidance to cinema owners island-wide on business strategies that can be used to enhance performance. “It delights me greatly to work with the Club to improve the film industry in the country, particularly the growth of SMEs.” He also stated that being a part of TMC and providing full support to the film industry through this program adds to his contentment!
The club collaborated with the prominent business coach Amithe Gamage, to conduct the inaugural training for the cinema owners. Amithe has vast experience in helping over 35,000+ professionals and business owners to grow while he is also a CEO Coach and a Personal Branding Strategist. He conducted training on conducting business during this challenging time and achieving the desired business results. This intriguing training covered all aspects, including remaining optimistic during difficult times, maintaining focus, utilising cost-effective promotional strategies, and financial management.
The Club will continue to offer such educational programs for cinema owners and sincerely hope to expand its collaboration that includes similar small and medium enterprises groups in the future.
