American Academy of Financial Management (AAFM) has launched its certification process in Sri Lanka, awarding the United States Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) monitored credentials such as Registered Financial Specialist (RFS), Chartered Market Analyst (CMA), Financial Analyst Designate (FAD) and Master Financial Professional (MFP), Chartered Asset Manager (CAM), Chartered Portfolio Manager (CPM), Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM) for financial and capital market professionals. FINRA is the largest independent regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States.
The qualification for awarding credentials are the prospective candidates should hold bachelor or master degrees in business, finance, accounting, economics, banking or other; or recognised professional qualifications of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), CIMA, ACCA or other, with sufficient experience in relevant fields.
AAFM approved financial and capital market programs will be added qualifications including the Securities & Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka accredited programs such as Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), Diploma in Capital Markets (DCM), Program for Directors of Listed Companies and Corporate Directors Program.
Members of senior management with over seven years of experience will be exempted from degree or equivalent requirements.
AAFM is recently chosen for conducting financial training programs and awarding credentials in collaboration with the Securities & Commodities Authority Training Centre of the UAE and the National Institute of Securities Markets, a public trust, established by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
AAFM is chosen by Dubai Financial Market (DFM) to conduct seven-week professional training component of the Kafa’at program for graduates entering the brokerage and trading industry.
AAFM has formed alliances with the Accreditation Council for Business School Programs, Arab League’s Arab Academy, Egyptian Investment Management Association, Dubai International Finance Exchange, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, Capital Markets Authority Approved Training Programs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dubai Institute of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Human Resources – China, Brazil Governmental Agencies and Monetary Authority of Singapore.
London Business School (LBS) based in Colombo will be a facilitation centre in Sri Lanka.
