Best Corporate Citizen DIMO excels at Annual Report Awards

Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) won a number of prestigious accolades at the recently concluded Annual Report Awards organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, held at the Grand Ball Room, Waters Edge.
This achievement brings more renown to DIMO, which received the highest recognition at The Best Corporate Citizens Sustainability Awards 2013, organised by the Chamber of Commerce a few weeks back. These honours are important to an organisation of the calibre of DIMO, where the genuine effort of the company to go beyond profitability has been appreciated and considered the best in Sri Lanka.
Annual Report Awards
DIMO was well acknowledged at the Annual Report Awards, winning awards representing many significant categories. The highlight among the four awards won, was the award received as a Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Integrated Reporting.
DIMO was the pioneer in Sri Lanka in Integrated Reporting. DIMO was also recognised as the Best in Sri Lanka for Corporate Governance Disclosure, Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting and won a Gold for Diversified Holdings (Groups up to 05 Subsidiaries).
Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards
At the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards, apart from being recognised as the Best Corporate Citizen in Sri Lanka, DIMO also walked away with the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2013 (Category of Ten Best Corporate Citizens), Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2013 (Sector Award Winner of Social Sustainability), Best Sustainability Project Awards 2013 (Automobile Training School Project), Certificate of Merit for ‘Lassana Hetak’ Project and Certificate of Merit for the Turtle Conservation Project.
International ARC Awards
DIMO also won the Grand Award for the Best Online Annual Report at the International ARC Awards 2013. These awards and achievements reaffirm the commitment and passion of DIMO towards sustainability and a healthy triple bottom line.
Ranjith Pandithage commenting on the above achievements said: “We involve ourselves with these awards to have a health check to see if we really walk the talk. We set very high standards for our businesses and sustainability receives the highest priority. And since we work with the best engineered brands in the world, it is paramount that our words are put into action to deliver our promise.”
Great Place to Work
The year 2013 has also seen DIMO being acclaimed as a Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka, which is an outstanding recognition. This reiterates the fact that DIMO not only looks beyond profit but also goes the extra mile to ensure that the employees are well looked after and that they appreciate the transparency and fair treatment practiced in the company.
HRM Awards
Moreover, DIMO received honours by achieving a Gold Award at the HRM Awards 2012, where DIMO competed with leading local and multinational companies, to become one of the top 10 companies with excellent HR practices.
Next year marks an important milestone as DIMO celebrates 75 years of existence. The new Mercedes-Benz Centre too is expected to open in the beginning of 2014. With the best engineered brands under their belt, with competent employees who find work enjoyable and rewarding, and with accolades which establish the vision and passion behind the company, DIMO is set to make greater strides in 2014.
