How to be a master of ceremonies

You have just been appointed to be the master of ceremonies (emcee) for your organisation’s upcoming event. Do you know what is expected of an emcee? Do you know how to engage the audience and make the event memorable and entertaining?

In this training session organised by the CIMA Sri Lanka Toastmasters, the resource person would be the veteran professional broadcaster and presenter Arun Dias Bandaranaike and would be held on Thursday 29 September from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Auditorium, CIMA Sri Lanka Division.

This programme will help you to learn how to develop an emcee script and deliver it in an engaging manner. You will also learn how to weave the different components of an event together and manage contingencies during an event.

The training curriculum would cover areas such as pre-event preparation, developing an emcee script, introducing a speaker or programme item, stage control, engaging the audience, vocal management, body language, managing the overall event and contingency planning. The investment for this useful training would Rs. 500 for CIMA students Rs. 600 for CIMA members and Toastmasters, and Rs. 1,000 non members/ General Public.
