TMC – Kalutara plans membership drive

The Management Club – Kalutara has planned a promotion event to create an awareness of the Club. This program is scheduled to be held on 12 August 2014 and will take the form of an Evening presentation aimed to introduce TMC to the Senior Managers in the Corporate Sector, followed by cocktails. Through this program, it is envisaged to attract members who are really interested in the objectives of the Management Club to join TMC. The Management Club was formed in 2002 to address some of the weaknesses encountered by professional managers who needed to develop their personalities, work ethics and leadership skills through constant interaction with those in their fields and also those in other disciplines, to emerge as good managers through the opportunities provided for them to meet, interact, keep abreast of new developments in management through networking and participation at in regular management forums and add value to themselves and their business. Today, TMC as it is popularly known has among its membership, managers representing the cream of practically all professional firms in the country. With a combined membership exceeding 500, the Chartered Management Institute-UK, Sri Lanka Branch and The Management Club strive to bring, management practices and business ethics to international standards and heights of excellence which in turn filters down to the organisations represented by individual members for the betterment of the individual manager, their organisation and the country. TMC presently operates from the following locations: TMC – Colombo at Galadari Hotel, 64 Lotus Road, Colombo 1,  formerly known as TMC Galle Face (principal Club established February 2002), TMC – Mt. Lavinia at the Berjaya Mount Royal Beach Hotel, Mt. Lavinia, TMC – Kalutara at the Hibiscus Beach Hotel, Kalutara, Ramadia Ran Mal Holiday Resort, Moratuwa, the second base of TMC Kalutara, serving the senior management segment, from the Moratuwa/Panadura areas, TMC Negombo at the Camelot Beach Hotel, Negombo TMC Kandy was recently initiated at the Mahaweli Reach Hotel and is at fledgling stage. TMC also has restricted reciprocal arrangements with the Dickoya-Maskeliya Cricket Club (DMCC) wherein the club members could visit the plantations en route to other locations and likewise members of DMCC may visit any of the TMC Clubs in any part of the country. All TMC Clubs offer a host of benefits to members including discounts on food and beverages and substantial discounts on other services offered by the hotels. Facilities include board rooms, meeting rooms, family rooms and lounge equipped with telephones, administrative staff, hotel service staff, broadband TV etc. between 9 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Membership to TMC is by invitation. The criteria for eligibility is a minimum of three years in management with academic or professional qualifications or a minimum of five years in management with no academic or professional qualifications. Corporate membership is another value offered by TMC to any corporate entity wishing to nominate a minimum of five of their managerial cadre, enjoying the same facilities described above at discounted subscription rates. There is no upper limit to the numbers that may enroll. Prevailing charges applicable for individual members would apply to corporate members too.
