World-renowned sustainability strategist to unveil 7 imperatives for sustainable business

Sustainability strategist Dr. R.A. Fernando will unveil seven imperatives for sustainable business at a forum on 15 June from 9 a.m. onwards at the Water’s Edge.

The event coordinators for this event are Epitom Consulting who are the training partner for this program together with digital marketing partner, GreenMarketing.lk.

Dr. Ravi Fernando holds an MBA from the University of Colombo and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). In addition to this, Dr. Fernando is an Alumnus of the University of Cambridge with a Master’s degree in Sustainability Leadership and holds a Doctorate from the European University in Geneva. His experience in over four continents with global multinationals like Unilever, Smithkline Beecham and years of experience can ignite young leaders towards creating their sustainability led business visions. 

Via the forum Dr. Fernando will identify the seven imperatives essential for any business to embed sustainability in corporate strategy. They are From Sustainability mind set leadership (CEO/Chairman and Board); To framing and positioning the new sustainability agenda as a growth strategy; Having a governance structure that enables sustainability mind set decision making; Creating ‘One’ strategy which embeds sustainability in corporate strategy; Managing strategic stakeholder engagement; Measurement, monitoring and rewarding sustainability performance and Creating new market spaces which are sustainability driven innovation and differentiation.

The forum is useful for firms which are keen to align themselves to the Global Sustainability agenda as set out by the UN Sustainable development goals 2016-2030 and learn from the best in academia and industry. They will be equipped with the knowledge of using sustainability led innovation to drive top-line revenue.

The program will cover the multiple facets of sustainability and how it impacts strategic corporate sustainability. Participants will learn about the challenges of managing resource sustainability and how to align to the new sustainable development goals by using the ‘strategic corporate sustainability business engagement matrix’ to identify which priority goals each business should engage in.    

Participants will also receive a copy of the insightful book ‘7 Imperatives for Sustainable Business’ by Dr. R.A. Fernando.
