After being held for its eighth year, with youthful creative talent emerging once again, the 2013 Young Lotus Sri Lanka creative competition saw Response Marketing copy writer Sailesh Gunasekera and Grant McCann Erickson Art Director Shehan Rodrigo, being declared as 2013’s winners.
The young duo impressed the five member panel of judges with their creative innovation, beating out 20 other teams representing both small and large advertising agencies across Sri Lanka.
Winners of 2013 Young Lotus Sri Lanka will participate AdFest 2013 in Pattaya Thailand, as representatives of Sri Lanka’s advertising industry. At AdFest, they will be working with young creatives’ from across the region. They will also be given the opportunity to absorb know how imparted by world-class creative gurus.
Conducted locally by the Sri Lankan Chapter of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (4As), Young Lotus is a regional competition that offers young creative professionals, under 28 years of age, a catapult onto the world’s stage.
At the same time, lending support to this year’s Young Lotus Sri Lanka was sponsored by Keells Foods, with a panel of judges comprising industry professionals Grant McCann Erickson Executive Creative Director Russel Miranda, Leo Burnett Solutions Executive Creative Director Subhash Pinnapola, LOWE LDB Executive Creative Director Dilshara Jayamanne, Heensare Partner and Creative Director Rajiv Wirasinha and Keells Food Products Keells Sausages brand Manager Aveen Pathirage.
The search for young creative talent this year was conducted under the guidance of 4As President Chalaka Gajabahu and Young Lotus Project local Chair Laila Gunasekera Martenstyn, both of whom unanimously agreed that this year’s competition was a resounding success. They jointly stated that the talent witnessed in 2013 augured well for the industry’s future.
