Chandu Rajapreyar has made history as the first Sri Lankan to be nominated to the Cannes Lions Global Advertising Jury, marking a significant milestone for the creative advertising industry in Sri Lanka.

Chandu is the Group Executive Creative Director at Hakuhodo International Group, Vietnam.

He has been selected to serve on the Innovation Lions Jury, one of the most forward-thinking and future-focused categories at the festival. His inclusion not only represents a personal achievement but also positions Sri Lanka on the global stage of advertising excellence and innovation.

This recognition is a testament to the growing impact of Sri Lankan creativity in the global advertising

landscape. Chandu is a creative explorer with the analytical precision of a strategist and the real-world acumen of a seasoned marketer. Over the past 25 years his work in advertising has garnered recognition from D&AD, Cannes, New York Festival, The One Show, Clio, Spikes, Ad Fest, Communication Arts, Effie, AD Stars, Award Awards, The Work, and Campaign Brief’s Agency of the Year rankings. Additionally, he’s been celebrated at the Smarties Global, MMA Regional, and MMA Vietnam awards. Ranked among the top 10 creative minds in Vietnam by Campaign Brief in 2023, Chandu has left an indelible mark on the industry. Over the past ten years, his contributions were pivotal in securing three Agency of the Year titles for Southeast Asia, three Agency of the Year titles for South Asia, and four consecutive Agency of the Year wins at the Effies. His leadership helped elevate MullenLowe Sri Lanka to 9th in Asia and 36th globally on the Effies global index.

His passion for innovation and creativity has propelled him beyond the advertising sphere. As a co-founder of several tech ventures like SD TECH, delivers cutting-edge AI and blockchain solutions to a global clientele with offices in the US, India, and Singapore.
