Madura Premarathne receives the silver award in the Executive and Supervisor category at SLIM NASCO
Jeewan Rathnayaka receives the bronze award in the Front Liner category at SLIM NASCO
Menswear specialist and Sri Lanka’s leading clothing brand Emerald produced two of SLIM NASCO’s emerging superstars this year, as sales professionals Madura Premarathne and Jeewan Rathnayaka bagged two prestigious awards alongside other super achievers at the annual ceremony held at the BMICH.
They both credited Emerald’s supportive work culture for their success. Organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the SLIM NASCO (National Sales Congress) Awards need little introduction to Sri Lanka’s professional community. Considered an important career milestone for sales professionals, the awards have brought national recognition to high performing individuals for their efforts and achievements in sales over the last 17 years. SLIM NASCO now recognises high achievers in both the Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Customer (B2C) segments.
As in previous iterations, the competition was stiff at this year’s awards with 750 top sales professionals from 140 companies contending across 23 categories to be recognised as the best in their fields. Emerald’s Premarathne competed in the category of ‘Executive and Supervisor’, bagging a silver award for his outstanding performance over the reporting period. Premarathne’s contribution to the company in terms of revenue generation has continuously met the firm’s expectations. His exceptional coordination, planning skills and leadership skills were rewarded with the award.
Rathnayaka competed in the ‘Front Liner’ category, emerging with a bronze award for his performance. Rathnayaka’s performance in terms of revenue generation at the level of a Front Liner qualified him to be a contender for the award. His excellent performance in managing the total portfolio of the Emerald brand in addition to his public relations and communication skills, gave him a competitive edge.
Both thanked Emerald for inculcating an environment of learning, saying: “From the time we joined Emerald, we’ve been inspired by the support we have received to set realistic, but ambitious targets and achieve them. These awards are testament to the very productive and goal-oriented work culture at Emerald. We are deeply grateful to SLIM for creating the platform for a national recognition for sales professionals and organising these awards every year. We feel even more inspired to go out there and do much better next year.”
